cooking pasta

First of all you’ll need some pasta and a pot in which to cook it. You can cook in any pot that’s big enough to hold the amount of pasta your preparing plus at least an inch or two. If you don’t have a measuring cup, start with about six cups of water.

Remove the label from one pound package of spaghetti, linguine, fettuccini or other long thin pasta. Rinse the noodles under cold running tap water to remove any dirt or debris that may be stuck on it. Boil the noodles in large pot full of salted boiling water over high heat for 7-12 minutes (time varies depending on thickness).

Ingredients:

1 handful of dry spaghetti pasta

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves of garlic, minced

salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot, bring about 3 quarts of water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add salt and cook pasta until tender but with a slight bite. Drain from the hot water from the pan and reserve 1/4 cup of cooking liquid for later use. Toss pasta with 2 teaspoons olive oil and set aside .

In a large skillet cook garlic in remaining teaspoon olive oil over medium heat for 30 seconds. Add cooked pasta and cook while stirring constantly for about 1 minute or until heated through. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
